Your kitchen is the heart of the home, and a remodel is exciting — but it's also a lot of moving parts. Here's how a kitchen remodel actually goes, start to finish, so you know what to expect.
- Design & layout. We start with how you really use the space. Open a wall, add an island, or keep the footprint and refresh everything? Layout drives every other decision, so we lock it first.
- Selections. Cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, fixtures, lighting, and hardware. In Hawaiʻi, island lead times make early selections critical — late choices are the number-one cause of delays. We help you choose finishes that look great and hold up to our humidity and salt air.
- Permits. Moving plumbing, electrical, or walls means Honolulu DPP permits. As your licensed GC (BC-39795) we pull them and schedule inspections.
- Demo & rough-in. Out with the old; in go the behind-the-wall systems — plumbing, electrical, any framing changes — all inspected before we close the walls.
- The build. Cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, paint, and fixtures go in, in the right sequence. This is where your kitchen takes shape.
- Final walkthrough. We walk the finished kitchen with you, clear any punch-list items, and your 1-year workmanship warranty begins.
How long does it take? Most full kitchen remodels run about 4–8 weeks of on-site work once materials are on hand — custom cabinetry and permits can add to the front end. You'll have a written schedule before we start.
Living through it. A kitchen remodel means no kitchen for a stretch. We help you plan a temporary setup and keep the rest of your home clean and protected throughout.
How IBBUILDERS helps: one accountable team runs the whole thing — design, trades, and schedule — so your kitchen remodel is organized and on track, not chaos.
