A bathroom is a small room with a lot going on — plumbing, waterproofing, tile, ventilation — and in our climate, getting it right matters even more. Here's what to expect from a bathroom remodel done properly.
- Design & scope. Refreshing finishes, converting a tub to a walk-in shower, or gutting and reconfiguring? We nail the scope and layout first.
- Waterproofing is everything. This is where most bathrooms fail. We build showers with a proper waterproof membrane and pan system — not just thinset and hope — so your tile and walls stay dry for the long run. In humid, coastal Hawaiʻi, this is the difference between a bathroom that lasts and one that molds.
- Selections. Tile, vanity, countertop, fixtures, lighting, and exhaust fan — we steer you toward moisture-smart materials built for our environment.
- Permits. Moving plumbing or electrical means Honolulu DPP permits and inspections, which we handle.
- Demo, rough-in, waterproof, tile, finish. The sequence matters: behind-the-wall work and waterproofing get inspected before tile goes on, so nothing's hidden that shouldn't be.
- Walkthrough & warranty. We walk it with you, clear the punch list, and your 1-year workmanship warranty begins.
Popular upgrades we do a lot of:
- Tub-to-walk-in-shower conversions — one of our most common requests.
- Curbless, aging-in-place showers — safe, modern, and accessible.
- Better ventilation — the quiet hero that keeps mold out of Hawaiʻi baths.
How long? A typical full bathroom remodel runs about 2–4 weeks of on-site work once materials are on hand; custom tile and showers add time. You'll have a written schedule up front.
How IBBUILDERS helps: we waterproof right, coordinate every trade, and stand behind it — so your bathroom is beautiful and built to last.
